- Discord – where you can connect with other students who help each other with questions, send test motivation, and more!

At Acely, every practice question is created by experts to mirror the style, complexity, and patterns you’ll encounter on the SAT and ACT. Our process is rooted in a deep analysis of the exams’ foundational principles. We study the common sentence structures, grammatical rules, and question formats essential for student success.
Using these core insights, we build original questions from the ground up, ensuring each one is authentically styled, perfectly calibrated for difficulty, and laser-focused on the recurring patterns that matter most. The result is a practice experience that goes beyond simple memorization, allowing you to internalize the logic of the exam and build genuine confidence for test day.
Yes! Acely’s practice tests will not time out, even if students go over time. This means that students can continue working up to their allotted time. Students’ projected Acely scores will not be affected if students use extra time, so the score ranges are still an accurate representation of their progress. Additionally, after students submit their test, they’ll be able to see how much time they spent in total and on each question, so they can compare this with how much allotted time they would have on test day.
Our content is created by our in-house Curriculum Team, with our powerful AI system assisting in quality assurance and concept categorization. The Curriculum Team consists of educators and test prep experts who have experience building questions for multiple standardized tests, including the SAT and ACT.
Our Curriculum Team manually reviews every single question, answer, hint, and explanation for accuracy, difficulty, and structure.
For a given question, we “show” the model additional information about the question. This results in higher-quality, more specific, more relevant responses and reduces the risk of the model veering off in its response. This data will also be collected and used to improve the efficacy of responses and improve our ability to generate content.
Additionally, unlike ChatGPT, all questions and answers are human-verified by Acely’s Curriculum team to ensure accuracy.
We built a system that interfaces with foundational LLMs to facilitate conversations between the user and the Acely bot. We can plug in various generative AI models to this system and rapidly experiment in order to evaluate which foundation model can deliver the most helpful, conversational, and natural-sounding study buddy for users. Hints are generated by AI, and answer explanations are augmented by AI. Anything that is AI-generated is also human-verified by Acely’s Curriculum Team.
Acely is a website accessible on desktop and mobile devices and does not have an app. We recommend accessing Acely through the same device you plan to use on test day to get the most out of your practice.

Yes! Acely also has an ACT subscription, an SAT+ACT subscription, or an AP subscription (which is available as an add-on once you start the SAT or ACT trial. Acely was built for the digital SAT and the enhanced ACT.
While Acely is student-paced, we do create a personalized study plan for each student that they can use as their guide. The study plan creates daily tasks with priority levels based on a student’s current score, goal score, and test date.
Acely’s system learns from users’ interactions with practice questions and the AI tutor. Over time, it can make personalized recommendations of questions targeted to a student’s proficiency level and goals, provide predictive scores, and tailor its persona to resonate with the particular student to accelerate their learning.
Acely offers 7,500+ SAT practice questions plus 25+ full-length adaptive SAT practice tests. Acely was built for the digital SAT, and its handcrafted content is based on the College Board’s Bluebook digital SAT.
Acely also offers extensive support for the ACT with 4,200+ questions to prepare for the ACT®, 10+ full-length enhanced practice tests for the ACT®. Acely is one of the few platforms to offer fully aligned material for the new, Enhanced ACT.
Acely also offers 2,800+ PSAT questions, 10+ full-length PSAT practice tests, and question banks for AP Biology, AP English Literature, AP World History, AP US History, AP Pre Calculus, AP Calculus AB, and AP Calculus BC.
Acely for SAT® Prep
There are many changes, including:
- The Digital SAT is shorter than the paper SAT. The paper SAT used to take 3 hours and 15 minutes to complete, and the DSAT will take 2 hours and 14 minutes to complete. This means time management is even more critical than it was before.
- There are shorter reading passages and only one question per passage on the Digital SAT. On the paper SAT, there used to be multiple questions related to one long passage.
- The DSAT is adaptive. Depending on how you perform on the first Reading & Writing and Math modules, your second modules for each section may be easier or harder.
- Unlike the paper SAT, on the digital version, you will have access to a calculator for the entire math section. You can practice using the Desmos online graphing calculator here.
Khan Academy is an excellent free resource for learning and reviewing SAT concepts, and we encourage students to use it. However, Acely was built specifically for the digital SAT and is the best platform to use to achieve your goal score. While Khan is best for initial concept review, Acely provides:
-
7,500+ targeted questions ideal for drilling weaknesses.
-
25++ full-length practice tests (far more than the 7 official Bluebook tests) so you never run out of test-like practice.
- Personalized, AI-driven study plans that guarantee every minute of your prep counts.
Use Khan Academy to learn, then use Acely for test-taking strategies to truly prepare you for test day.
This all depends on your baseline score, your target score, and your test date.
To see the most improvement, we recommend studying for at least 3 months for at least 10 hours per week. This can help students boost their score by ~100 points.
With 20 hours of studying per week for 3 months, students can boost their score by more than 150 points. Again, this greatly depends on their starting score.
For best results, we recommend following Acely’s Study Plan that dynamically updates as you take Acely mock exams and work through problems in practice mode.
Yes! All Acely SAT subscriptions include PSAT support so students can prepare for the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in their junior year of high school. Students can watch their PSAT practice test scores improve as they study with Acely so that by October of their junior year, they’re ready to unlock scholarship opportunities. Read more here about Acely’s PSAT prep and why the PSAT is an important exam to prepare for.
This varies depending on the school you’re applying to! This is a great resource to figure out what your target score should be based on a specific school. Don’t forget that you can retake the SAT and submit a superscore to many schools as well. Make sure to research the specific superscore policy for the colleges and universities you’re applying to.
ACT® Prep
There are many test format changes, including:
- The Enhanced ACT is 125 minutes (about 2 hours) instead of ~195 minutes. Similar to the digital SAT, pacing
- Each section has fewer questions overall, so you actually get more time per question. That means in the ACT English & Reading sections, you can spend extra seconds reading carefully and eliminating answers.
- In the new ACT math section, there are now four answer options rather than five.
- The ACT Science section is now completely optional (and the Writing section continues to be optional). You can choose the ACT Core (English, Math, Reading) or add on Science/Writing sections of the ACT, depending on your goals. The Science test can be a great addition if you’re applying to a STEM college.
- Students can choose between taking the Enhanced ACT as a paper test or digitally.
Learn more about the changes in our blog post.
This all depends on your baseline score, your target score, and your test date.
If you don’t have a baseline score, you can start an Acely trial to take a free ACT practice test and then make your study plan.
To see the most improvement, we recommend studying for at least 3 months for at least 10 hours per week. This can help students boost their score by ~4 points.
With 20 hours of studying per week for 3 months, students can boost their score by more than 9 points. Again, this greatly depends on their starting score.
For best results, we recommend following Acely’s Study Plan that dynamically updates as you take Acely mock exams and work through problems in practice mode.
Acely is an ACT prep program that offers self-paced, personalized guidance so students can easily pinpoint weaknesses and tackle the new format of the official ACT test. With an online course, students get a broad overview of the basics through learning modules, an ACT study guide, and tutorials. These can be helpful for students starting from scratch. While a course can help cover fundamentals, Acely’s ACT test prep provides:
-
4,200+ targeted questions that are ideal for drilling weaknesses.
-
10++ full-length mock exams (far more than the 2 Enhanced exams ACT offers) so you never run out of test-like practice.
- Personalized, AI-driven study plans that guarantee every minute of your prep counts.
Enroll in a course to learn the basics, then use Acely for test-taking strategies that will create real score improvement by your ACT test date.
This varies depending on the school you’re applying to. This is a great resource to figure out what your target score should be based on a specific school. A great ACT score can boost your college applications significantly.
Don’t forget that you can retake the ACT and submit a superscore to many schools as well. Make sure to research the specific superscore policy for the colleges and universities you’re applying to.
PSAT® Prep
There are a few different PSAT tests students can take.
- PSAT 8/9: For 8th and 9th graders, administered throughout the school year. Shorter and less complex than the PSAT/NMSQT.
- PSAT 10: Taken in the spring of sophomore year. Identical to the PSAT/NMSQT, but doesn’t qualify for National Merit Scholarships.
- PSAT/NMSQT: Taken in the fall of junior year. Identical to the PSAT 10, but it can qualify you for National Merit Scholarships.
The PSAT 8/9 and 10 are good markers of baseline scores. Once a student takes these, they know how much preparation they want to do for a certain goal PSAT score. Students should spend the summer before junior year preparing so they’re ready to take the official PSAT/NMSQT in the fall of junior year (this one qualifies for National Merit Scholarships).
Students should use the official College Board PSAT Bluebook practice test as well as Acely’s 10+ full-length practice tests to make sure they are getting consistent practice.
They can see their projected scores on both, and with Acely’s dashboard, they can see their strengths and weaknesses, so they know how to target their practice. After that, students should consistently use Acely’s practice question bank to work on their weakest topics.
The PSAT is a great test to take for a few reasons.
- SAT Score Prediction: The PSAT gives a good indication of your future SAT score, helping you gauge progress and identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Targeted Practice: It highlights areas needing improvement, making SAT preparation more effective. Even 20 hours of targeted practice can significantly boost your SAT score.
- Scholarship Opportunities: High PSAT scores can qualify for National Merit Scholarships and other awards. Opt into the Student Search Service for more scholarship opportunities.
- School Requirements: Many high schools require the PSAT, often covering the cost. Check with your guidance counselor for specifics.
