What’s Changed with the SAT
In March 2024, the SAT went digital for all US test takers. Here’s what changed:
Shorter Exam
The Digital SAT is an hour shorter than the paper SAT, so time management is even more critical than it was before.
Reading & Writing
There are shorter reading passages and only one question per passage on the Digital SAT.
Adaptive Test
Depending on how you perform on the first Reading & Writing and Math modules, your second modules for each section may be easier or harder.
Desmos
Unlike the paper SAT, on the digital version, you will have access to the Desmos online graphing calculator for the entire math section.
What’s Changed with the ACT
In September 2025, all paper and digital ACTs were aligned to the new Enhanced format. Here’s what changed:
Shorter Exam
The Enhanced ACT is 70 minutes shorter than the original ACT, so time management is even more critical than it was before.
Answer choices
In the new ACT math section, there are now four answer options rather than five.
Optional Science
The ACT Science section is now completely optional (and the Writing section continues to be optional).
Paper or Digital
Students can choose between taking the Enhanced ACT as a paper test or digitally.
Desmos
On the digital version of the Enhanced ACT, you will have access to the Desmos online graphing calculator for the entire math section.

What is Desmos?
